Keys for Life and Success Programs, are two very similar rapid re-housing programs through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Continuum of Care aimed at serving homeless individuals and families with children that need housing assistance and intensive case management up to 24 months. Possible program participants are referred by United Way’s 2-1-1.
As part of the ongoing support of the families and to ensure stabilization, KEYS utilizes its Family Strengthening casework model to ensure resources and tools are in place for the family to maintain their housing over time and increase economic independence.

Who Qualifies

Individuals and families who are verified through 2-1-1, the coordinated entry system as literally homeless. If they qualify, they would be referred to KEYS for intake and housing search and stabilization assistance.

Homeless individuals and families should call 2-1-1 for a referral.

Program Success Stories

After being homeless for three years, Ms. Joanna and her family enrolled in the KEYS for Life Program that afforded them the opportunity to find stable housing. Soon after both adults were employed, and the children thriving in school. Ms. Joanna also thankful for the goal setting component of the case management services, “We work toward and achieve goals now. Before, we didn’t even know we could do these things let alone how to go about them. But look at us, we did it!” Housing stability has benefited the entire family, especially the children, “The kids are happier! They are doing excellent in school! My kids have better lives today. Having our own place means we get to enjoy a real parent-child relationship. I am there for my kids – they love it! My children’s needs are truly being met. That is our biggest accomplishment”.
